Item 23

I am finished. It was a great experience. I learned a lot. I am amazed at how much there is to do on the internet. I liked flickr the most. I will probably use it personally. Also liked the google.doc. I will probably use it to write my parents history. I have some nephews and nieces that will help. They live far and this program could help so all of us can work on it together. I wouldn't change anything on this discover 2.0 program. It went very well. I was able to learn and discover much about the different internet sites. Thanks for the learning experience.

Item 22

I viewed microblogging. It seemed like another way to socialize. Maybe it would be a great way to communicate within the library instead of emailing. I did sign up for tumblr.

Item 21

I viewed video sharing websites. I am amazed at how much is out there. They could be a great way for someone to get help with how to's, like learning how to knit. I do wonder how the library's filter system would work. Plus in order for patrons to use these sites in the library we need sound.
A person could spent a lot of time viewing videos. Had trouble posting a video.

Item 20

I studied about podcasts. Tried researching sites, found some but had some trouble downloading them. I think the library could use them in teaching and testing. It's a great way to catch a program that you missed.

Item 19

I looked at all the sites: last.fm, Pandora, IMEEM, Internet Archive, Absolute Sound Effects Gutenbergs.orgs Audio Book, and Mango Languages. In the music field I liked Pandora. I seemed to be able to find the music I liked more in Pandora then the others. I think as a library worker I could see me sending patrons to use Gutenbergs Audio Book and the internet archives. I think free audio books will be popular. Personal I think I will try out Mango languages and try to learn some Spanish.

Item 17

Viewed alot of cool sites. Played some fun games. Tested my blog readability. I got a genius rating. Does everyone get the same rating? Posted it on my blog. I went to Yahoo answers. I didn't care for it. I thought most of the questions were to personal and political. Maybe a site that would narrow the questions down to just homework or research questions would be better for the library.

Item 16

Learned about wiki's. I would think they would be good for anyone still in school that had to do a group project. You wouldn't have to get together as often. Everyone could work online and add their input. That way everyone could help with the writing of the paper. Keeping organized. Knowing what everyone has done.

Item 15

http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/886542
I signed up for goodreads. I even saw my reviews on line.
A great sight to keep track of my reading. I think patrons would like it,
but we should have more internet terminals in the library or maybe have
the site as an electronic resource.

Item 14

I watched technorati tutorial. I went and explored keyword search, tags, and blog directory. When searching I prefer looking under tags. I think bookmarking and tagging will be a good way to keep organized.

Item 13

I watched Social Bookmarking and del.icio.us tutorial. I liked the bookmarks in del.icio.us. There was some good book sites to go to under libraries. It will be great to be able to use bookmarks at the library and then access them with your home computer later.

Item 12 - Exhibit B

This is my trading card using Trading Card Maker
another fun site to play with.

Item 12 - Exhibit A

This picture is using the Add letters Street Sign
Generator. A great site. I have enjoyed using the image generators. I even put a ticker counter on my blog for a countdown when my daughter comes home from her church mission. Check out Item 12-Exhibit B

Item 10

I read about social networks. I found it would be a great way to look for lost friends. It would be great for the library to have a site and post upcoming events and highlight authors and books. Also a great place for patrons to leave their comments.

Item 9

I have set up a meebo accountand it is now on my blog sidebar.

Instant messaging is great if you are just sitting at your computer
with your blog or meebo account on, but it is not for me. I still like a phone call.

IM Reference would be great, especially if it could be open 24 hours. Patrons could get there answers right when they need them. But instant messaging for library reference will only work if you have someone answering the call.

Item 8

I have been working on adding sites to my bloglines. Searching was easier by just going to my favorite web sites and see if they have a blog. It makes no sense to fill up with bloglines I'm not all that interested in. I found enough with just my favorites. I have plenty to read now. I had the best luck adding blogs with firefox using the icon.

I can see libraries using it to keep patrons up to date with events, new books coming out, and even having a book discussion with it. I would use it to keep up with the news, weather, and shopping discounts.

Item 7

Well I created a blogline and learned about RSS. At first I didn't understand at all, but I worked at it and now I understand a little. I have some great sites on by blogline, and I am excited to view them. Of course I have amazon. Checked out a good book from the library "About.com guide to online research" it's helped alot.

Item 6

I explored the different flickr mashups. My favorite was flickr Sudoku.

Item 5

ttp://www.flickr.com/photos/spw11/2167824984/ This is the picture from flickr I picked. Flickr seems like a nice site to get to know for organizing your pictures and doing something with them.

1/2/2008
Listened to 7 1/2 lifelong learning habits. I think the easiest habit would be confidence in myself.Hardest would be using technology to your advantage, because I'm not very familiar with new technology. I do have confidence that I can learn.
